Public Defender System
February 16, 2010Our evaluation found that high workloads for public defenders have created significant challenges for Minnesota´s criminal justice system. While there are no easy options to reduce stress on the public defender system at this time, we recommend actions to improve performance management, long-range planning, and standards for appointing public defenders.
