Senator Roger Reinert, Chair, called the Legislative Audit Commission (LAC) meeting to order at 9:41 a.m. The purpose of the meeting was to approve the evaluation topics selected by the Evaluation Subcommittee.
Senator Reinert thanked Representative Hansen, Chair of the Evaluation Subcommittee, for allowing members to sit in on the discussion during the subcommittee meeting. Representative Hansen moved to adopt the list of evaluation topics recommended by the subcommittee, which were the following:
Mineral Taxation
Minnesota Board of Nursing
Minnesota Film and TV Board
MNsure
Packinghouse Workers’ Bill of Rights
Minnesota Licensing and Registration System (MNLARS)
Recycling and Waste Reduction
Representative Hansen explained that the commission would convene at a later date once the MNLARS and Recycling and Waste Reduction topics had been further scoped by the Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA). Senator Rest requested a brief overview of the topics from OLA. Jim Nobles, Legislative Auditor, and Judy Randall, Evaluation Manager, ran through the chosen list of evaluation topics. After some discussion among the members, the motion prevailed.
In response to an inquiry from Representative Hansen, Mr. Nobles said that OLA is working to make its Web site and documents fully accessible. He also mentioned that since the OLA is part of the Legislature, it will work closely with other entities in the Legislature to address accessibility concerns.
With no further business, Senator Reinert adjourned the meeting at 10:00 a.m.
