Representative Hansen, Chair, called the Legislative Audit Commission (LAC) meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. The purpose of the meeting was to (1) release the evaluation, MnDOT Measures of Financial Effectiveness, and (2) receive an update on the accessibility efforts of the Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA).
Judy Randall, Deputy Legislative Auditor for the Program Evaluation Division, gave a brief statement about the evaluation. David Kirchner, Evaluation Manager, provided a presentation on the overall conclusions and recommendations of the evaluation, and answered members’ questions.
Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) Commissioner, said the department agreed with most of the report’s findings and recommendations. Mark Gieseke, MnDOT Assistant Division Director for Engineering Services, gave a brief presentation of the department’s response to the evaluation. Ms. Anderson Kelliher and Mr. Gieseke responded to members’ questions.
The meeting turned to an update on OLA’s accessibility efforts. Ms. Randall said that OLA makes significant efforts to ensure that materials are accessible. She explained that several staff have taken training on making documents accessible to people with visual impairments.
