Representative Beard, Chair, called the meeting of the Executive Subcommittee of the Legislative Audit Commission to order at 1:03 p.m. The purpose of the meeting was to consider reappointing James Nobles to be Legislative Auditor for a six-year term and to consider approving Mr. Nobles’ appointment of Cecile Ferkul to be Deputy Legislative Auditor for the Financial Audit Division for a term coterminous with the term of the Legislative Auditor.
Representative Beard called on James Nobles, Legislative Auditor. Mr. Nobles gave a brief historical overview of his time with the Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA). He said that even after 30 years, he still enjoys his job and is proud of the work of the OLA. He requested to be appointed for a sixth six-year term.
Senator Reinert moved to recommend the appointment of James Nobles as the Legislative Auditor for another six-year term. The motion unanimously prevailed.
Mr. Nobles went on to explain how important the Financial Audit Division Deputy is to him and how much he relies on the knowledge of the Deputy to help perform the tasks of the Financial Audit Division. He requested that the subcommittee approve his appointment of Cecile Ferkul to be Deputy Legislative Auditor for the Financial Audit Division. Ms. Ferkul spoke briefly about her years of service with OLA and the challenges the Financial Audit Division will face in the upcoming years.
Representative Hansen moved to recommend the appointment of Cecile Ferkul as the Deputy Legislative Auditor for the Financial Audit Division for a term coterminous with the term of the Legislative Auditor. The motion unanimously prevailed.
With no further business, Representative Beard adjourned the meeting at 1:36 p.m.
