Other Legislators Present:
Senator Kiffmeyer, Chair, called the Legislative Audit Commission (LAC) meeting to order at 9:32 a.m. The purpose of the meeting was to release the Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA) evaluation, Standardized Student Testing.
Senator Kiffmeyer introduced Judy Randall, Deputy Legislative Auditor. Ms. Randall told members that Senator Kiffmeyer had made subcommittee appointments and that there was a document with this information included in their packets. She also reminded members that the topic selection deadline was Friday, March 10, and extra topic suggestion forms had been included in their packets as well. Ms. Randall said that the next OLA evaluation, Clean Water Fund Outcomes, would be released the week of March 20. And the last evaluation, Minnesota State High School League, would be released a week or two later.
Ms. Randall turned to the evaluation being released and gave a brief introduction. She then introduced David Kirchner, Evaluation Manager, who gave a presentation. Mr. Kirchner provided an overview of the key findings and recommendations, and answered members’ questions.
Senator Kiffmeyer introduced Kevin McHenry, Assistant Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). Mr. McHenry gave MDE’s reaction and response to the evaluation.
With no further business, Senator Kiffmeyer adjourned the meeting at 10:23 a.m.
