Information Technology Specialist 3
The Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA) is a nonpartisan
professional office in Minnesota state government’s Legislative
Branch. OLA audits, evaluates, and reviews state agencies and
programs; identifies their strengths and weaknesses; and recommends
improvements to legislators and agency officials. The office has a
Financial Audit Division, a Program Evaluation Division, and a Special
Reviews Division.
The Information Technology Specialist 3 (ITS3) will manage OLA’s
internal and external websites, email system, and Linux servers, and
provide database application and server administration. The ITS3 will
provide technical and operational support for in-house LAN and
end-user computers. This position will provide backup and recovery on
file systems, log analysis on servers, and support for OLA-issued
phones.
Position Information

Salary range is from $35.41 to $57.64 per hour, the equivalent of
$73,936 to $120,352 per year. The Legislative Auditor will determine
the starting salary within the above salary range based on the
candidate’s qualifications.

Information technology staff typically work Monday through Friday.
Some weekend work may be required. Due to the nature of the work,
the individual in this position will be required to work in the
office at least 50 percent of the time.
Job Duties

Administer OLA’s Windows virtual environment, including
installation, configuration, and ongoing support

Serve as support for application software on Windows and Linux
servers, Azure, and client devices, including installation,
configuration, and help desk support

Serve as vendor contact for software; coordinate purchasing, bid
solicitation, software licensing, and vendor support and consulting

Serve as support for Linux servers, including web servers, docker
environments, and vendor web applications
- Update internal and external websites
- Update and maintain backup software system
Minimum Qualifications
-
At least two years of experience supporting Windows and Linux
environments

Experience with a scripting language such as PowerShell, Bash, or
Python
-
Strong interpersonal skills, as this position is the primary
technical support contact for OLA staff
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:

A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant
field is desirable

IT security-related training and experience, particularly relating
to Windows and Linux server hardening

Experience with administering staff laptops and miscellaneous client
devices, including installation, configuration, and ongoing support
- Experience in an Azure/Active Directory environment
- VMware and Firewall support experience

Experience with automated software updates, installation, and
imaging
- Experience with html and php web programming

Experience supporting audio/visual equipment in a conference room
setting
