Student Worker - Assistant IT Auditor

The Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA) is now accepting
applications for an assistant IT auditor (Student Worker) within the
Financial Audit team. OLA is looking for curious and motivated
critical thinkers interested in working on projects to determine
sufficiency of information technology controls and compliance.
Job Duties
Typical duties of an assistant IT auditor include:

Conducting audits, which may include:
- Data analytics.
- Evaluating and testing internal controls.
- Conducting risk assessments.
- Performing legal compliance testing.
- Documenting audit evidence in work papers.
- Drafting audit findings.
- Assisting with internal projects.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, a candidate
must submit a cover letter and
must be a student working toward a bachelor’s or master’s
degree—with anticipated graduation in the fall of 2026 or spring of
2027—in information technology, accounting, computer science, management
of information systems, or another relevant field. A candidate must also
have:

An understanding of information technology management and
governance, and information technology service delivery processes.

Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a
team.

Ability to work effectively with people who have a diverse range of
perspectives.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will also have one or more of the following:

Training or experience in critically analyzing data and legal
compliance requirements, including laws, federal regulations, and
state policies and procedures.
-
Training or experience with data analysis and sampling techniques.
-
Training or experience with cloud hosting platforms (AWS or Azure).
- Training or experience with artificial intelligence.
-
Training or experience collecting information through interviews and
written inquiries.
- Strong writing skills.
- Knowledge of state government and the legislative process.
Additional Requirements

We will review cover letters and resumes to

Selected applicants will go through an interview process and will be
required to submit education transcripts, a writing sample, and
references. At the time of the interview, we may ask applicants to
respond to a writing prompt.

Violations relevant to being an evaluator at OLA may disqualify an
applicant.

Due to the nonpartisan nature of our office, applicants with
extensive prior partisan work experience may be disqualified.

status).

This position will have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule or
work in the office. The selected applicant must live in Minnesota
and is expected work in the office as required
