Emergency Ambulance Services

February 25, 2022

Over 250 ambulance services around the state provide care and transportation for Minnesotans experiencing medical emergencies. We found that the state’s oversight of ambulance services is insufficient and the process of allocating geographic areas to ambulance services needs reform. Further, the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB) has been ineffective in its regulation and support of ambulance services. We make recommendations to both the Legislature and EMSRB to improve ambulance service regulation.
