The Office of Ombudsperson for Families (OBFF) is meant to ensure that children and families of color that are involved in the child protection system are treated fairly and appropriately. We found the office has not consistently followed requirements in law and lacks adequate oversight. Ultimately, the office’s impact in recent years is unclear. We make a number of recommendations, including to the Legislature, OBFF, and the community boards that are meant to oversee the office.
