Student Worker Program
Introduction
Through the Program Evaluation Division (PED) student worker program, you will gain professional experience evaluating public programs or policies as an integral member of one of our evaluation teams. Student workers participate fully in the process of designing, conducting, and summarizing research. Research tasks vary according to interest and experience, but often include interviews, data analysis, surveys, and/or document reviews.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a master’s or doctorate program in the social sciences, public policy, public health, applied economics, or another relevant field. A candidate must also have:
Strong writing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
The ability to work effectively with people who have a diverse range of perspectives.
The ability to conduct objective, nonpartisan research on complicated topics.
Preferred Qualifications
Training or experience in one or more research methods, such as:
Data organization and quantitative analysis
Interviews
Surveys
Focus groups
Literature reviews
Program evaluation training or experience.
Proficiency using statistical analysis software, such as Stata, SPSS, or R.
Proficiency using content analysis software, such as NVivo.
Proficiency using survey software, such as SNAP.
Training or experience conducting legal research.
