This report presents the results of our follow-up work related to recommendations from three performance audit reports we issued in 2023. The results of our work examined 58 recommendations across 9 state agencies. We found 22 of the 58 recommendations were implemented.

  • The Office of the Legislative Auditor has over 50 years of strengthening accountability and providing legislative oversight of Minnesota state government.
    A brief overview of OLA’s history.

  • The Office of the Legislative Auditor will release the special review report, Department of Natural Resources Timber Harvest Decisions in Wildlife Management Areas, on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

    The review’s key findings and recommendations will be presented to the Legislative Audit Commission that morning at 11:00 a.m. in room 1100 in the Minnesota Senate Building.

    The report will be streamed via YouTube.
  • The LAC Evaluation Subcommittee met on October 6, 2025, and selected the following program evaluation topics for possible evaluation in 2026:
    1. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Services in Public Schools
    2. DHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) Investigations
    3. Enterprise Talent Development (ETD)
    4. Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR)
    5. Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) Safety Inspections
    6. Nonemergency Medical Transportation and Nonemergency Medical Transportation Fraud Prevention as a combined topic
    7. State Oversight of Long-Term Care Insurance
    8. State Regulation of Nursing Home Care
    9. Taxpayer’s Transportation Accountability Act (TTAA)
    10. Waiver Reimagine
    In the following weeks, OLA will prepare background information on these program evaluation topics and present this information to the LAC for consideration when selecting final topics.
