Unemployment Insurance System (May 2)

The state’s Unemployment Insurance (UI) system provides Minnesota workers and employers with an online web portal to help fulfill UI requirements. Our audit assessed if the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and Minnesota Information Technology Services (MNIT) had adequate internal controls to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the UI system. Our report includes eleven findings—eight findings related to information security, one finding relevant to automated data-matching for eligibility determinations, and two findings regarding current UI system modernization projects.
